How to use the keyword generator
Start broad. A two- or three-word seed like "protein calculator" or "feature request tool" surfaces more useful variations than a single generic word. Choose the country you want to rank in, because volumes and competition differ a lot between markets.
Results are split into two tabs. Ideas are phrase variations and related terms around your seed. Questions are the who/what/how/why searches, which make excellent H2s, FAQ entries and standalone articles.
- Sort mentally by intent first: can you genuinely answer this search with your product or content?
- Prefer ideas with a clear, specific intent over the highest-volume ones.
- Click "Check KD" on shortlisted keywords to get the numeric difficulty score.
Reading search volume and difficulty labels
Volumes are shown as ranges rather than exact numbers, which is closer to how they should be treated anyway: search volume is an estimate that swings with seasonality. Use it to compare ideas against each other, not as a traffic forecast.
The difficulty label is a quick signal of how competitive page one is. For anything you plan to invest in, run the full Keyword Difficulty check, which also estimates how many referring domains you would need to compete.
Turning ideas into a content plan
Group related ideas that a single page could answer, pick the strongest one as the page's primary keyword, and use the rest as supporting sections. Question keywords often belong inside a broader page as an FAQ rather than on their own.
